Mark Anthony Brown Jr.
Mark Anthony Brown Jr. is an artist based in the American South who primarily works with photography and photo-based materials. His identity as a Black American is a key component of his practice and often intersects with his subject matter, including Black aesthetics, spiritual and cultural practices, sports, nightlife, and urban landscapes. Brown is currently an MFA candidate at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and is based in Durham, North Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia.

Emerging Lens is ART WORKS Projects’ signature program that awards project support, unrestricted grants, and mentorship to emerging photographers working to document social justice and human rights issues in their own backyards and around the world.
